A licensed third-party escrow service, Escrow.com for most sales. We never receive funds directly from a buyer.
Who pays the escrow fee
We do. The price you are quoted is what leaves your account.
How to pay
Wire transfer for most amounts. The escrow service lists the other methods it accepts at checkout.
What comes after
Nothing to us. The only ongoing cost is your registrar's yearly renewal, the same as for any .com.
If it goes wrong
If the name cannot be delivered, the escrow service returns your payment. That is the point of using one.
The transfer
You need an account at a registrar. If your company already has a .com, you have one. If not, opening one takes a few minutes and we will tell you which details to send.
We start the move within one working day of the escrow service confirming your payment. Between two accounts at the same registrar it is usually done that day. Between different registrars it can take up to a week, because the outgoing registrar is allowed that long.
Your present website and email stay as they are throughout. Nothing changes until you or whoever looks after your site decides to point the new name somewhere.

Is the price negotiable?
The figure is set to be fair the first time, so there is little air in it. If your budget is different, say the number. You will get a yes or a no, not a counter-offer dance.
Can we pay in instalments?
Sometimes, for larger amounts. The name stays in escrow until the last payment, and you can use it in the meantime. Ask when you ask the price.
Do we need a lawyer?
The agreement is written to be read without one. You are welcome to have yours look at it, and we will wait while they do.
How long does the whole thing take?
From a yes to the name in your account: often under a week, mostly spent waiting for a wire to clear.
What do we get, exactly?
The registration of the .com, moved into an account you control. No website, logo or trademark comes with it, and we claim none.
Will our name be public as the buyer?
Not from us. We do not announce sales or name buyers, here or anywhere else.
